CNN has released their list of 25 top innovations (non-medical) in the past 25 years. Well, not quite the whole list. CNN is withholding the #1 innovation until Sunday (Jan 16/05). Any guesses?
I am putting myself through university by working retail. I am amazed at how many of the items on this list are things that I sell. I last worked in an electronics department 15 years ago and none of them where consumer items at that time. Now the main stays of my department are digital cameras, cell phones and mp3 players. The top 25 innovations of the last 25 years are all very new to the consumer level and (maybe) surprisingly embraced as much by seniors who have lived through 78’s, 33’s, eight tracks, cassettes, compact discs and now mp3s and mini discs as they are by the youth who do not fully understand why making a phone call is refered to as dialing (have they ever seen a phone with a rotary dial???)
